Georgia Roberson
Services for Georgia Elizabeth Adair Roberson, 85, Kaufman, formerly of Edgewood, were held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 5, at Cheatham Memorial United Methodist Church, Edgewood.
Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home, Edgewood.
Mrs. Roberson died May 1, 2008, in Kaufman.
She was born February 27, 1923 in Temple, Okla., to Colie Abner and Artie Mae Hicks Adair. As a young child, she lived in Dallas and at the age of 15, she moved to Edgewood where she graduated from high school in 1940. She graduated from Draughon’s Business School in 1942. She married Raymond Benard "Ben" Roberson in 1944. She returned to Edgewood. She started her career as a secretary for Titche-Goettinger Department Store. She worked as editor of the Edgewood Enterprise, where she also wrote a column called Liz’s Chit Chat and retired after 37 years. Some of her writings were published in Reader’s Digest. She was a 50-year plus member of Eastern Star and a member of Cheatham Memorial United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ben Roberson; brother, Carl Adair; and sister, Leola Laine.
Survivors include son, Raymond "Rob" Roberson, Terrell; daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Stephen Wilkinson, Wharton, and Diana and Jim Inge, Fort Worth; grandchildren, Jason Inge, and wife, Michelle, Lance Furrh, and wife, Sheila, and Shara Pullen, and husband, Matt; great-grandsons, Sam Furrh, Andrew Furrh, Max Pullen and Maddox Pullen.
