Services for Gordon Lewis, 78, Grand Saline, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 11, at Bartley Funeral Home Chapel, Grand Saline, with G.D. Phillips and Carl McCann officiating.
Burial was in Creagleville Cemetery.
Mr. Lewis died December 7, 2007, in Tyler.
He was born August 18, 1929, in Grand Saline to George and Cleo Whitt Lewis. He grew up in Grand Saline, was a resident of Odessa for several years and lived in Alaska for nine years prior to moving back to Grand Saline in 1976. He was a welder, and was a member of Fruitvale Church of Christ. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Randolf Lewis, Radford Lewis, Marvin Lewis and R.P. Lewis; and sisters, Vanetta Parks and Laverne Thompson.
Survivors include his wife, Monteen Lewis, Grand Saline; sons and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Kathy Lewis, Denton, Garry Lewis, San Diego, Calif., and Randy Joslin, St. Louis, Mo.; daughters and son-in-law, Sammie and Dave Diamond, Plano, and Vickie Dunlap, Grand Saline; brothers, Gerald Lewis, Grand Saline, Ferris Lewis, Odessa, and Terris Lewis, Quinlan; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Richard Stack, South Carolina; five grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.
Pallbearers included David Lee, Jimmy Terry, Dustin Duke, Chuck Clower, Jody Mayne and John Dunlap.
