Services for Merlin Jerome Preston, 87, Arlington, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at Eubank Funeral Home Chapel, Canton, with Rev. Jim Perry officiating.
Burial was in Haven of Memories Memorial Park, Canton.
Mr. Preston died April 18, 2008, in Arlington.
He was born November 26, 1920 in Ben Wheeler to George Roy and Sultie Mayne Preston. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Tyler. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. during World War II. He retired from Carrier Air Conditioning in Tyler after 30 years of service. He was active in the VFW and American Legion.
He was preceded in death by son, Dennis Preston; four brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Patrick N. and Barbara Preston, Arlington; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Steve Stiefvater, Fort Worth; sisters, Ava Lanfrey, Ben Wheeler, and Clova Alvey, Tyler; brother, Roy Preston, Tyler; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 25, at the funeral home.
