Services for Norman James Janzen, 81, Mesquite, were held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 25, at High Community Center, with Rev. Jim Leach officiating.
Burial was in High Cemetery, Van Zandt County, under direction of Eubank Funeral Home, Canton.
Mr. Janzen died April 22, 2008, in Dallas.
He was born November 22, 1926 in Coessel, Kan., to Jacob F. and Susie Graves Janzen. He was a member of Eagles Nest Cathedral of Dallas. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict, receiving a Purple Heart. He was a driver for Wonder Bread for 20 years prior to retirement. He was also an ordained minister.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Linda and Betty.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Cathy Cora Janzen, Mesquite; daughters and son-in-law, Sue Whye, Topeka, Kans., and Tammy and Ren Vantreese, Mesquite; sons, Larry Shotwell and Dennis Shotwell, both of Mesquite, and Ricky Janzen, Topeka; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Frank Hibert and Harold Hibert, both of Kansas; and other relatives.
Pallbearers included Joseph Shortnacy, Adam Shotwell, Carry Shortnacy, Aaron Shotwell, Ray Vantreese and Ren Vantreese.
