Private services for Betty Catherine Brown, 69, Canton, were held recently under direction of Eubank Funeral Home, Canton.

Mrs. Brown died April 12, 2008, in Tyler.

She was born August 6, 1938 in Gladewater to Marvin D. and Winnie Carolyn Wright Wilbanks. She was of Baptist faith. She grew up in Gladewater and was a resident of the Oakland/Colfax area for many years. She opened the first concession stand on the First Monday Trade Days Grounds. She owned and operated the Eagle Paint & Glass and the B&B Drive-in Gas and Grocery in Canton. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Winnie Carolyn Edward; stepfather, John L. Edwards; father, Marvin D. Wilbanks; and grandson, John Waldren Bracey.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Keith Needham, Canton, Cathy and James Hamner, Aquilla, and Synthia Brown and Roger May, Ore City; sons and daughter-in-law, Clyde Westley Brown, Aquilla, and Dave and Christy Brown, Murchison; grandchildren, Johnnethen Chambers, Roxsanne Stone, Matt and Elizabeth Collins, Tina Joe Stone, James and Jason Hamner, Brittney and April Brown, Paul and Heather Herzog, and Shelly and Precillia; great-grandchildren, Michelle and Alexis Collins, Julia Pierce, Jaselynne and Justynne Earl, Adam and Ave Chambers, and others; brothers and sister-in-law, James and Cory Wilbanks, Ben Wheeler, and Billy F. Wilbanks, Brownsboro; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Leroy Gordon, Brownsboro.
