Services for Olga Marguerite Bucek Kurc, 89, Grand Saline, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, at First United Methodist Church, Grand Saline, with Rev. Dan Gilliam officiating.

Graveside services were at 2 p.m. at Restland Memorial Park, Dallas, under direction of Bartley Funeral Home, Grand Saline.

Mrs. Kurc died April 27, 2008.

She was born June 20, 1918 near Schulenburg to Roy and Otillie Bucek. She married Victor Emil Kurc in 1939. She was a resident of Dallas, where she was employed as a nanny, and later began working in various dress-making factories. She was floor manager of Howard Wolf in Dallas and Jerrells in Edgewood. She was a resident of Grand Saline since 1977, where she was active in community activities, including the Hospital Auxiliary, TEEA Club, Athena Club, SPJST Lodge, and First United Methodist Church. She was a 50-year member of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Victor; daughter, Barbara; sister, Edna Grasshoff; brothers, Felix and Oscar Bucek; and nephews, Danward Grasshoff and Mike Bucek.

Survivors include daughter, Jodie Bawcom, Waco; grandsons, Todd Bawcom, and wife Beverly, Jason Bawcom, and wife Katrina, and Aaron Bawcom; great-grandsons, Kristopher and Jeffrey Bawcom; siblings, Roy Bucek, Schulenburg, Marguerite Hagens, Schulenburg, and Joyce Mardis, Lake Jackson.

Memorials may be made to charity of choice, or First United Methodist Church of Grand Saline the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center, P.O. Box 6, La Grange, TX 78945-006, and Autumn Wood Hospice of Grand Saline.
