Services for J.W. Dossett, 87, Grand Saline were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, at Donnelly’s Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, Irving, with Chaplain Ronald L. Ebert officiating.
Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Irving, under direction of Bartley Funeral Home, Grand Saline.
Mr. Dossett died May 4, 2008 in Weatherford.
He was born January 27, 1921 in Irving to Otto and Lela Mae Tolar Dossett. He worked 25 years as a carpenter and 25 years in general maintenance. He served as a deacon at Hilltop Baptist in Irving and at Second Baptist in Garland, and also taught Sunday school for 22 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy Dossett; daughter, Kathy Dossett; and sisters, Nona Mae Emmons and Elizabeth Meritt.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Judith Ann and Bob Truly, Weatherford, and Karen and Jerry Sparks, Dallas; brothers, Leon Dossett, Canton, John Dossett, Arlington, and Steve Dossett, Austin; sister, Vivian Dixon, Irving; grandchildren, Ronnie Truly, Rhonda Bynum and Sean Matthew Sparks; and great-grandchildren, Kathy Sparks, Jennifer Bynum and Jason Bynum.
