A celebration of life for Barbara Franks Hanley, 87, Edgewood, was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, at St. Therese Catholic Church, Canton.
Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery under direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home, Wills Point.
Mrs. Hanley died May 4, 2008, in Tyler.
She was born April 10, 1921, in Szeged, Hungary, to Stephen L. and B. Wenner Franks. She graduated from a private Catholic School in Hungary and then attended and graduated from The University of Hungary. She moved to the United States at the age of 18 years and lived in Midland, where she worked as a nanny until she learned the English language. She then worked for a petroleum company. She married Joseph William Hanley in 1959. She moved to Highland Park in Dallas and worked as an accountant for Allied Insurance Group until she retired. In 1982, she moved to Edgewood. She was a member of the Edgewood Historical Society and St. Therese Catholic Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Joseph William Hanley.
Survivors include son, Gabor Hanley, Van Nuys, Calif.; close friends, Liebchen Rose Scott, Frances Everett, both Canton, and Diana Wilcoxson, of Edgewood, and the Breakfast Club at St. Therese Catholic Church.
