A celebration of the life of Rev. Leslie D. Scott, 95, were scheduled fort 2 p.m. Friday, May 9, at First United Methodist Church, Mesquite, under direction of Restland Funeral Home, Dallas.
Rev. Scott died May 3, 2008.
He was born February 28, 1913 in Speegleville to Rush and Ida Mae Scott. He received his undergraduate degree from Southern Methodist University and Divinity degree from the Perkins School of Theology. He married Onita Greenhaw in 1940. He was a Methodist minister in the Texas Conference, serving for 50 years in churches in Galveston, Houston, Bryan, Bay City, Tyler, Wills Point and other East Texas towns. He served as a chaplain for the Hospice of North Texas and was a volunteer at the Medical Center of Mesquite.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dennis Scott; and sister, Mary Sparks.
Survivors include his wife, Onita; son and daughter-in-law, Philip and Joyce Scott, Tyler; daughter and son-in-law, Jeannie and David Nethery, Dallas; brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Shirley Scott, Dickinson; nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, May 8, at Restland Funeral Home.
