Services for Doris Rae Phillips, 79, Edgewood, were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, at Edgewood Church of Christ with Ken Maddox and Ed Stover officiating.
Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Edgewood, under direction of Allan Fuller Funeral Home, Wills Point.
Mrs. Phillips died May 11, 2008, in Tyler.
She was born October 29, 1929 in the Morince Community, near Edgewood, to O.T. "Pas" and Lydia Caroline Wade Pickens. She was a lifelong resident of Edgewood, graduating from Edgewood High School in 1946. She married Vernon Richard Phillips in 1950. She was employed by Continental Trailways Bus Company and the Federal Reserve Bank, both in Dallas, and later was employed by the city of Edgewood as a water department clerk, retiring in 1997 after 15 years of service. She was a member of Edgewood Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Billy Paul Pickens; and sisters-in-law, Geraldine Pickens and Gisela Pickens.
Survivors include her husband, Vernon R. Phillips, Edgewood; sons and daughter-in-law, Richard and Karen Phillips, Jay Phillips and Tim Phillips, all of Edgewood; brothers and sister-in-law, Dug Pickens, West Tawakoni, and Don and Vauda Rae Pickens, Wills Point; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Alvin Phillips, Grand Saline; grandchildren, Jeff Phillips, Melissa Cooper, Zach Phillips, Dillon Phillips and Taylor Phillips, great-grandson, Wade Cooper; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of East Texas or the American Cancer Society.
