Services for Jimmy Joe Thomas Sr., 75, Canton, formerly of Lake Tawakoni, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 4, at Eubank Funeral Home Chapel, Canton.
Burial was in Old Bethel Cemetery.
Mr. Thomas died May 1, 2008, in Canton.
He was born May 28, 1932 in Dallas to Hilliard Tommy and Gracie Lee Anderson Thomas. He attended grade school in Dallas and high school in Hutchins. He moved to Colorado where he worked as an apprentice in taxidermy, later becoming a licenses taxidermist. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict as an airman U.S.-N-1. He worked as a carpenter until retirement.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Thomas, Canton; sons, Jimmy Joe Thomas Jr., Mesquite, and Bart Thomas, Quinlan; daughters and son-in-law, Penny and Randy Griggers, Quinlan, and Kim Thomas, Canton; stepsons, Marcus Casey, Bonham, and Carl Casey, Canton; brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Mary Thomas, Mesquite; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and other relatives.
Pallbearers included James Dyess, Johnny Dyess, Paul Dyess, Ray Moore, Mike Taylor, Eddie Taylor, Jimmy Don Taylor and Eldred Dyess.
