Services for Elbert Edward Pugh, 88, Van, will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, May 9, at Pruitt Baptist Church, with Rev. David McNary officiating.
Burial will be in Edom Cemetery, under the direction of Hilliard Funeral Home, Van.
Mr. Pugh died May 5, 2008 in Tyler.
He was born March 6, 1920 in Martins Mill to Major Allen Pugh and Bertha Lambright Pugh. He grew up in Edom, and returned to the area after retirement. He lived in Dallas for 35 years, during which time he worked for Dallas Transit as a bus driver. He was also a member of Pruitt Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by wives, Joe Ann Pugh and Gladys Pugh; sister, Nadine Pugh; and brothers, Harold Pugh, George Pugh, Verlon Pugh, Wendell Pugh and Joe Allen Pugh.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Oralia Pugh, Van, Glen and Mieka Pugh, Wichita Falls, and Toby and Sherry Pugh, Arlington; daughters and sons-in-law, Melinda and Larry Newcomb, and Joann and Charles Vicory, all of Van, and Rose and David Whittington, Keller; brothers and sisters, Alton Ray Pugh, El Paso, Archie Pugh, Carrollton, Oleta Nixon, Ben Wheeler, Juanita Pugh, Tyler, Shirley Thompson, Cisco, and Verna Smith and Ruth Barrett, both of Van; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Blake Champion, Glen Pugh, Milton Stewart, J.D. Smith, Bill Crim and Jackie Nations.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 8, at the funeral home.
