Roy Appleton
Services for Roy Appleton, 90, Wills Point, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, at the Elwood Missionary Baptist Church, north of Wills Point, with Rev. Billy Smith officiating.
Burial was in Woodall Cemetery, north of Wills Point, under the direction of Allan Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point.
Mr. Appleton died June 1, 2008, in Terrell.
He was born December 1, 1917, in Wills Point to Charlie Christopher and Lizzie Florence Wilson Appleton. He was a lifelong resident of Wills Point. In the 1950s he was employed by Precinct 3 in Van Zandt County for six years. He married Beverly Jo Howard Williams on May 28, 1978, in Wills Point. Most of his life was spent in farming and ranching on his Rockin’ A Ranch north of Wills Point. He did horseshoeing for the public for many years. He was a member of Elwood Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William F. Appleton and Charlie Ray Appleton; sister, Fannie Margaret Appleton; and father-in-law, Bill Howard.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly Appleton, Wills Point; sons: Bryan Howard Williams, and fiancé Diedra Roller, Round Rock, John Aaron Williams, and wife Cinnamon, Anchorage, Alaska, and Chad Derric Williams, and Geri Lynn Chiles, Wills Point; daughters, Amy Fattig, and husband Steve, Canton, and Lizzie Jo Moody, and husband Thomas, Forney; grandchildren, Justin Fattig, Justin Huff, Colten Williams, Lauren Williams, Conner Williams, Dakota Williams, Jacob Fattig, Bailey Roller, Caleb Williams, McKayla Williams, Sarah Williams, Hannah Fattig, Hallie Williams, Logan Fattig and Kaitlyn Moody; mother-in-law, Ortena Howard, Wills Point; brothers-in-law, Bob Howard, and wife Becca, Mesquite, and Randy Howard, and wife Kathy, Celina; one nephew; one niece; and other relatives.
