Ted Haines

Services for Ted Haines, 81, Van here held at 10 a.m., November 2 at Hilliard Funeral Home Chapel, Van with Rev. James Golden officiating and Perry Martin assisting.

Burial was in Haven of Memories Cemetery, Canton.

Mr. Haines died October 31, 2009 at his home in Van.

Teddy Lea Haines was born July 24, 1928 in Seminole, Oklahoma to the late Leander Lewis Haines and Leona Kinman Haines. He graduated from Van High School in 1947 and shortly thereafter joined the army and was stationed in Bremerton, WA training with an anti-aircraft battalion. Upon his discharge from the service he came back to Van and married Wanda L. Veazey on May 4, 1956 and continued his career with Pure Oil Company and Unocal, where he worked as a drilling supervisor for over 40 years and in over 30 countries.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Leonard Haines; and sister, Donna Haines Petty.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Haines; son, Todd Haines and wife, Rhonda all of Van; daughter, Teresa Swartz and husband, Charles, Austin; brother, D. J. Haines and wife, Jill, Pittsburg; sister, Thelma Pease of Grand Junction, Colorado; and grandchildren, Kristi Phillips, Tommy Clague, Jessica Chavez and R. Wayne Clague.

Pallbearers were Looter Wright, Gene Turner, Johnny Peden, Charles Veazey, Johnny Veazey and Matt Petty.
