Services for Mildred Whitfield Oakley, 87, Canton, were held at 2 p.m., November 3, at Eubank Funeral Chapel with Truman Oakley, Rev. Harvey McCreary and Rev. David Fortner officiating.
Burial was in Haven of Memories, Canton.
Mrs. Oakley passed away October 31, 2009 in Tyler.
She was born June 29, 1922 in Van Zandt County to William Early and Minnie Mae Hart Whitfield. She was a member of Walnut Springs Bible Baptist. She grew up in the Edgewood Community and married Loy Oakley in 1939. They lived in Edgewood and Canton until they bought their farm in Canton in 1948. She was a seamstress and operated the family dairy for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Loy Oakley, Parents and six brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her, son and daughter-in-law: Truman Dale and Robbie Oakley of Canton; granddaughter and husband, Tammie and Tom Harp; grandson and wife, Truman and Becky; great-grandchildren, Ty Harp, Samantha Oakley and Trey Oakley; and a sister-in-law, Bobbie Oakley, Dallas.
Pallbearers were Bobby Chaney, David Chaney, Randy Whitfield, Phyl Grammar, Grady Martin, Ed Henson, Tom Harp, Chubby Perkins and Jerry Hudson.
