Billie Louise Mayberry

Services for Billie Louise Mayberry, 86, of Wills Point, were held at 2 p.m., January 24 at the First Baptist Church in Wills Point with Dr. Mike Burns and Pastor Benny Chaffin officiating.

Interment followed at Cox Memorial Cemetery south of Canton under the direction of Allan Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point.

Mrs. Mayberry passed away January 22, 2010, at her residence.

She was born August 3, 1923, in Canton the daughter of J.A. Sanders and Nettie Swinney Sanders. She was raised in Canton where she graduated from High School in 1939. On June 1, 1940, she married A.C. Mayberry in Canton. Billie and her husband, A.C. purchased The Green House on April 1, 1955. In 1959, they began raising their niece, Cindy. In 1977, Cindy started working in the family business. After several successful years at The Green House, Billie decided to retire in 1986. She had been a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Club of Pine Bluff, Arkansas and later, the Wills Point Historical Society. In 1984, she was named Rotary Ann’s Woman of the Year. One of the many special days in her life was the adoption of Cynthia Ann Adams on December 14, 1988. In the 1990’s, she was secretary for the American Cancer Society of Van Zandt County. There was no greater love than that of spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Mayberry was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wills Point where she had taught Sunday School for many years. One of her greatest gifts was the Prayer Room at First Baptist Church, given to the glory of God and in memory of her beloved husband, A.C. Mayberry.

Preceded in death by her parents; husband, A.C. Mayberry on November 2, 1989; brother, Bobby Wayne Sanders and a sister, Mary Loma Tindel.

Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia Ann "Cindy" Adams and husband, Cecil, of Wills Point; sister, Sue Burns and husband, Jerry, Canton; grandchildren, Jeremy Adams and wife, Amber, Joshua Adams and wife, Tami, Jonathan Adams and wife, Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Joseph, Jaci, Jersi and Cade Adams and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were, Brian Stokes, Bruce Miracle, Gary Mayberry, Herschel LyBrand, Adam Ridge and Kevin McDonald.

Honorary pallbearers were, Herschel Ewalt, Brett Hallman, Walt Soap and Larry Mitchell.
