Jack W. Thompson

Funeral services for Jack W. Thompson, 79, of Edgewood were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 3, at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point with Mr. Wilbur Owen and Rev. George Bollinger officiating. Interment followed at Cana Cemetery south of Wills Point.

He passed away Sunday afternoon, January 31, in Edgewood.

Jack was born January 14, 1931, in Kaufman, the son of Charles E. Thompson and Ester Ione Bivins Thompson. He was raised in the Ola Community outside of Kaufman. In 1948, he graduated from Kaufman High School. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and the United States Army. On February 12, 1955, he married Lea Roberts in Sherman. In 1969, Jack moved to Edgewood where he owned and operated J & L. Utility, retiring in 1983. He enjoyed working on Model-A cars and antique equipment. Jack was a lifelong member of the V.F.W. and was of the Assembly of God faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles Thompson and a sister, Betty Lou Thompson.

Survivors include, wife: Lea Thompson, of Edgewood; two daughters: Linda Deal and husband, Charles, of Edgewood, and Deb Kehr and husband, Jerry, of Farmers Branch; brother: Richard Thompson, of Waco; seven grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several other family members.
