Services for Harvey Eugene "Gene" Wommack, 65, were held at 10 a.m., March 8 at Hilliard Funeral Home, Van with Rev. Larry Shackleford officiating.
A graveside service was held at 11:30 on Wednesday, March 10 at the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery.
Mr. Wommack passed away March 4, 2010 in Athens.
He was born June 7, 1944 in Springfield, Missouri to the late Lester Wommack and Jenie King Wommack. He had been a resident of Murchison for about 20, formerly living in Arlington. He was a member of Rock Hill Baptist Church in Brownsboro, and was active in the Edom Community Theatre. He served in the US Air Force for four years, as well as the US Navy for two years during Vietnam. He also owned and operated A-1 Glass and Mirror in Ben Wheeler for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Laura Lou Raby and Elizabeth Davis; and two brothers, Willie Wommack and Lowell Wommack.
Survivors include his wife, Murlene Wommack, Murchison; daughter, Joyce Le Tank and husband Dwight, Murchison; sisters, Barbara Philbrook and Sue Lynn Stumpff, both of Missouri; "brother", Patrick Vosburg and wife Joy of Dallas/Ben Wheeler; grandchildren, Joshua, Duane and Kristen; and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Dwight, Josh, Trevor and Trace.
