Flynn Keeps Seat

Texas State Representative, District 2 Dan Flynn (Republican) kept is place in office by beating Democratic opponent Scott Cornuaud.

District 2 serves Hunt, Rains and Van Zandt Counties.

Flynn won Hunt County with 9,682 votes to Cornuaud’s 6,859 votes.

In Van Zandt County Flynn received 7,069 votes compared to Cornuaud’s 3,786 votes.

Totals for Rains County were not available at press time.

"Susan and I are honored that we have had such an outpouring and strong showing of support in District 2," said Flynn.

Flynn said he would continue with the program he started and standing for an efficient government.

"We are going to get real property tax relief for our citizens. Homeland security will also be addressed," said Flynn.

Flynn said he will continue to help the school districts in Van Zandt County to be among the leading districts in the state.

"I will try to continue to provide our students and teachers with the best possible opportunities," said Flynn.

Flynn also said that the issues of health and human services continue to be a priority.

"We need to see that the needs of the district are adequately funded," said Flynn.

"I appreciate the opportunity to serve another term. It has been the honor and privilege of a lifetime to serve the citizens of District 2," said Flynn.
