Junior High Band Wins Sweepstakes
The Canton Junior High Band earned first division ratings from all six judges, earning a UIL sweepstakes for middle school varsity during the region 3 UIL concert and sightreading evaluation held April 2 at Mabank High School.
The band is comprised of 87 seventh and eighth grade students.
"As a staff, we are extremely proud of the effort and determination of the middle school band and are looking forward to having such a strong group of students entering the Canton Mighty Eagle Band this fall," said conductor David Landry.
Band officers are president Dalton LaRoe, eighth grade representative Zachary Norman, and seventh grade representative Ashlynn Parker.
The band staff is made up of conductor David Landry, assistant directors Ginger Dillard, Chris McHenry and Michael Barron, and director of bands Rob Toups.
