Two Held For Burglaries, Thefts

Julie Vaughan, Editor

The Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office has been investigating several offenses over the past few weeks. There have been several burglaries and thefts spread throughout precincts 1 and 3 in Van Zandt County and parts of Kaufman County.

Authorities have made two arrests in connection with the crimes. Kevin Winfred Parker, 19, Wills Point, has been linked to the thefts in both counties. He was arrested for failure to comply with registration requirements as a sex offender. His bond was set at $25,000 for non-compliance. He could be facing additional charges.

John Russell Grant, 18, Fruitvale, was also arrested and charged with two counts of burglary of a habitation. His bond was set at $10,000 for each charge.

In addition, two juveniles have been arrested and charged with burglary.

Authorities said that this continues to be an ongoing investigation and investigators believe it will lead to additional arrests and the recovery of more stolen property.

Crime Stoppers offers rewards for anonymous tips that lead to the arrest and conviction of criminal offenses. By calling 903-567-STOP, you can provide information to the sheriff’s office about these types of crimes or any other crimes.

Callers are given a special code number, and when the crime is solved through arrest and conviction, you can use that code number to arrange to collect your cash reward anonymously. You never have to give your name or other identifying information.
