Woman Surrenders On Insurance Fraud Charge
GRAND SALINE—A Mineola woman turned herself in on March 7 for filing a false report to police in conjunction with an insurance fraud scheme.
Dusty Rená Little, 33, was arraigned by Grand Saline Municipal Judge Pam Harvath with a bond set at $2,500. She was taken to the Van Zandt County Jail for booking.
Little is alleged to have staged a burglary on June 28, 2008, at her residence on Caprice Street in Grand Saline. Two flat-screen televisions, several rifles and other items had been reported taken on that date.
However, officers gradually located the items in residences of Little’s relatives in the Ben Wheeler area and learned that Little brought the items herself, according to police reports.
According to the incident report, Little had been paid $12,797.60 by State Farm Insurance for the items reported stolen.
The charge of insurance fraud over $1,500 but less than $20,000 is a state jail felony.
