Some Residents In North Of County Lose Power
GRAND SALINE—Storms through Van Zandt County Wednesday night and Thursday morning created a partial power outage in Grand Saline.
City administrator Stephen Ashley said the north and west sides of the town seem to be most affected.
"It seems we had some fuses blown and there is an unconfirmed report of a pole down on O’Hara Street near the (Grand Saline) Church of Christ," Ashley said.
He added that power at his own home went out at 8:50 p.m. Wednesday although rain and winds were "not that heavy" at the time.
"We have power at city hall, and most of the south and east sides of town have power. It appears the north and western sides are the ones out," Ashley said.
He added that a representative from AEP/SWEPCO (American Electric Power’s Southwestern Electric Power Company subsidiary), the electrical service provider for the area, gave an estimated time of 4 p.m. Thursday for restoration of power.
The company’s Web site reported 328 Van Zandt County customers without power as of Thursday morning.
Edgewood Police Chief Henry Askew said Thursday morning that some Edgewood homes also were without power.
"The reports have been kind of sporadic," he said, adding that a few homeowners in the county area near Edgewood had also reported a power outage.
