Indians Rally To Beat Union Grove, 52-41

Randal Brewer, Sports Editor

GRAND SALINE — Erasing a 10-point halftime deficit, the Grand Saline Indians caught fire offensively in the second half to beat Union Grove, 52-41, Tuesday night.

Taylor Phelps led the effort for Grand Saline (3-1) with 18 points as the Indians got back into the win column after a 78-73 loss to Winona before the Thanksgiving break.

Anthony Jackson helped out with a double-double, posting 12 points and 12 rebounds.

The Indians were sluggish in the first half and found themselves down 25-15 at halftime. However, the shots finally started falling for Jeremy Bullard’s crew in the second half and a 20-7 run in the fourth quarter ensured victory.

Phelps and Brandon Creel combined for nine assists in the game. Other scorers for the Indians included Jordan Tittle with nine, Lucas Akins with five, Creel with four and Daniel Galvin and Kyle Keahey with two apiece.

The Indians play at Canton on Tuesday and will be in the Fruitvale Tournament Thursday through Saturday.
