Christmas Parade, Bazaar Set For December 6th

Donna Limberger, Staff Writer

The holiday season is just around the corner and there are many Christmas activities planned in Van on Saturday, December 6, 2008.

The annual Christmas parade will be held that evening with parade lineup beginning at 5:30p.m. The parade will start at 6:00 p.m. and all floats are encouraged to be lighted.

Lineup will be at the Van Intermediate School and the parade will end at the Van Oil Museum where Santa will be available for pictures. There will also be refreshments, entertainment and 2008 Van Oil Queen Kasi Dickerson will be on hand to turn on the lights of the Oil Derrick for the Christmas season.

Also on that day, the Friends of the Van Community Library are sponsoring their first annual Holly Berry Holiday Sale and Bazaar.

The sale will be from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the library located at 310 Chestnut Street. It will include beauty items and jewelry, baked goods, home décor and a variety of Christmas gift items.

Santa will be there for pictures and a full concession stand will be available.

Vendors are still needed for the event and anyone with crafts, antiques, furniture or handmade items is encouraged to contact the library at 903-963-7942 or Whitney Jones, Bazaar Coordinator at 903-963-5285.

All proceeds will go to the vendors. Booth rental fees and concession proceeds will go to support the library.
