Community Library Donates Books

The Van Community Library recently donated 35 boxes of books to Stormy and Jerry Ornelas, owners of El Patron’s restaurants in Van and in Eustace.

Ornelas hopes to open a library in Eustace in the future. Her vision is to provide that community with a wholesome place for teens and others to read and to check out books.

The Van Community Library staff worked a full day looking through stacks of books deciding which ones to keep, check for duplicates, process, and place on the shelves for access by library patrons.

Among the many books donated by the generous public were those we could not use for various reasons: they were duplicates; their fragile conditions would not hold up to circulation; etc.

As a result of the sorting, the library had many good books to give away. The prospect of helping another library was the perfect place to send the books.

The Van Community Library is open Monday-Saturday, from 9 a.m. to noon and Tuesday and Thursday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and is located inside the Van Community Center near the soccer fields at 310 Chestnut.
