School Board Reviews Abstinence Programs

The Van Independent School District School Health Advisory committee (SHAC) is in the process of reviewing abstinence programs for the district.

The committee will then recommend a program to the Van ISD School Board for the 2010-2011 school year.

During the last meeting, programs were presented by Van Junior Victor Davidson who shared "Choosing the Best" with the group and Van Middle School Principal Trent Goodwin presented "Power2Wait".

The next SHAC meeting will be held on Monday, February 8 from 6:30 pm. until 8 p.m. in the Van High School Library.

The abstinence programs that will be presented during this meeting will be "Project Reality" by Lana Keller, "Big Decisions" by Jackie Smith, RN and "Aim for Success" by Van Juniors Amy King and Madison Kendrick.

All parents and community members are encouraged to attend and voice opinions and provide input to the committee.
