Mayne To Play Bass Clarinet In National FFA Band
Jan Mayne, a 17-year-old high school junior and chaplain for the Van High School FFA chapter, has been selected to play the bass clarinet in the National FFA Band.
Mayne, the daughter of David and Terri Mayne of Ben Wheeler, was selected to join 84 other elite young musicians at this year’s convention by submitting an audition tape.
The 83rd National FFA Convention will take place October 20 through October 23 at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Mayne, along with her fellow band mates, will arrive three days before the convention in order to rehearse for their performances.
The National FFA Band will have the honor of entertaining an audience of more than 54,000 at this year’s event.
Mayne would like to say a special thanks to the following people: Lloyd Nations of the Van FFA, Van HS Band Director Trey Gossett, Van Band Director Heather Chitty, Mike Hargraves, and her mother Terri Mayne.
