With approximately 120 applications received by the Wills Point ISD for the athletic director/head football coach’s position, superintendent Joe Oliver reported that the search committee is nearing the final three prospects.
"I narrowed the number down to 20 applications," Oliver said. "Then the search committee chose eight of those to be interviewed."
The search committee consists of Oliver, assistant superintendent of curriculum Suzanne Blasingame, assistant superintendent of operations Damon Davis, junior high principal Tom Harp, and high school principal Jim Lamb.
"We have already interviewed the eight, and are now in the process of checking references," Oliver explained. "The committee will narrow the selection down to three in the next couple of days, and those three will be interviewed by the school board."
The tentative timetable calls for hiring a new athletic director to be hired by the next regular school board meeting on April 14.
