Bluebird Festival Set For Saturday
The 15
th annual Bluebird Festival will kick off Saturday, April 26, at 8 a.m. on the brick streets of downtown Wills Point.
Entertainment, special exhibits and more are scheduled for the daylong event.
There will be a Dutch Oven cooking demonstration set up on the north end of 4
th Street, as members of the Dogwood Chapter of the Lone Star Dutch Oven Society show methods of preparing food using a Dutch Oven.
Contest finals for the Bluebird Talent Discovery Contest – Bluebird Idol, will be held on the Brookshire’s Main Stage
Then at 2 p.m. will be the crowning of winners in the Little Miss Bluebird Pageant.
Entertainment on the Brookshire’s Main Stage, which will be located at the four-way stop sign, includes the following:
John Ross at 9 a.m., Terry Edwards as Elvis at 10 a.m., Driven Life Praise Band at 11 a.m., STEPZ All Star Gym at 12 p.m., Ricky and the Sickeez at 1 p.m., Terry Edwards as Elvis at 3 p.m., and The Talent Box at 4 p.m.
On the 5
th Street Stage, located on 5th Street next to the antique car show, includes the following:
Dee Ellis at 10:30 a.m., License Plate Poker at 11 a.m., Terry Edwards as Elvis at 11:15 a.m., David Ross at 1 p.m., and Dee Ellis at 2 p.m.,
There will be a Kids Zone section at the festival featuring a rock climbing wall, bounce house and pony rides.
Also, the Heritage Quilt Guild will host a quilt show in the chamber of commerce building during the festival.
There will also be special exhibits during the festival including the Texas Bluebird Society, the Van Zandt County Humane Society, the Beekeepers, Kaufman County Master Gardner’s Association, armadillo races, and Citizen’s League for Animal Welfare.
The Tex-N Modular Railroad Club will also be at Mitchell Hall from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on April 27, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free.
The Wills Point Rotary Club and the Wills Point Antique Tractor Club have also teamed up for the 1
st Annual Antique Car and Tractor Show.
The Antique Car and Tractor Show Awards will be announced at 2:30 p.m.
