Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Deputies, working off of a Crimestoppers tip, arrested a Wills Point man for parole violation Monday and the man will now be charged with evading arrest after fleeing officers on foot.

Julius Vincent Tarrant, 24, was arrested Monday after officers went to his residence on Minnie Street in Wills Point.

"When we arrived at the residence, the suspect saw us and took off on foot. He went west on Minnie, crossed over 4

th St. then ran down Brown where we were able to apprehend him," said Van Zandt County Investigator James Whitt.

Whitt said that a deputy in a car saw Tarrant go behind a house which is where officers found him hiding behind a stump.

Whitt said that Tarrant had been involved in a previous drug bust in the county.

"This is another dope dealer off of the street. Hopefully he will now have his probation revoked," said Van Zandt County Sheriff R.P. "Pat" Burnett.
