Three Hurt In Crash
Three people were injured in a crash on Farm-to-Market 47 north of Wills Point Wednesday morning, when a vehicle failed to control its speed and collided almost head on into another vehicle.
Alvero Figueroa-Vazquez, 59, and his passenger Francisco Hernandez, 43, both of Wills Point, were traveling northbound on FM 47 in a 1998 Ford Explorer.
Jeffery Hooten, 43, and his passengers Shelly Hooten, 41, and Payton Hooten, 18, all of Point were southbound on FM 47 in a 2008 Chevrolet Impala.
"Mr. Hooten was southbound on 47 while Mr. Figueroa was northbound on 47. There was a car stopped on 47, northbound waiting to turn left into a business," Department of Public Safety Trooper Brady Lunceford explained.
"Mr. Figueroa was traveling extremely fast and at the last second he takes evasive action to the right into the ditch and began to slide and goes into the southbound traffic and hit them almost head-on and his vehicle overturns," Lunceford said.
Hernandez was transported to Parkland Hospital in Dallas by Careflight.
Payton Hooten was transported to Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler by Careflight.
Shelly Hooten was transported by ambulance to Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler.
Lunceford said the accident was captured on a business video surveillance.
Figueroa-Vazquez was issued citations for failure to control speed and failure to maintain financial responsibility.
