Vehicle Burglar Spree Reported
Wills Point police responded to nine vehicle burglaries on Monday morning.
Beginning at 6 a.m., police began receiving calls regarding windows busted out of vehicles and items missing from the inside. The calls came in throughout the morning and into the afternoon as the victims went out to their cars.
"It appears to be a little sporadic," said officer Lonnie Carroll. "There is no pattern as to the items taken. It appears they’re just busting the window and grabbing whatever they can from the inside. They’re doing it really fast."
Some of the items taken include clothes, ipods and CD’s. There has been some damage done to the dash of cars where the thieves tried to remove car radios.
The incidents are taking place all over Wills Point, with break-ins being reported on High St., North St, Gordon, Spears, Cox, Commerce and Sparks.
"The only lead that we have is a blue truck with loud exhaust was seen leaving the scene of one of the burglaries at around the time we think it occurred," Carroll added.
Police warn citizens to hide or remove any valuable items from their vehicles, as there have been signs of windows that were not smashed being looked into.
