Council Updates Noise Ordinance
The Wills Point City Council passed an updated noise control ordinance at the regular meeting held on Tuesday.
The old ordinance required a third party complaint to be called in to police before any action could take place. Police would then have to give a warning before issuing a citation.
The new ordinance would allow police to act without any third party complaint, and enable them to issue citations without giving a warning.
In response to questions from the council, chief of police Scott Johnson said the department would typically seek to resolve noise disturbances without writing citations.
The council also approved a change to an ordinance requiring municipal judges to live within the city limits.
The council heard from Wills Point resident Pat Harris regarding water lines supplying residences north of town on Farm-to-Market 47. Harris said water quality was poor due to old lines, and asked the council prioritize necessary repairs.
