New Tin Design by Philip Werts offers a variety of hand painted tin crosses and wall plaques, hand painted tin with or without mirrors.

Werts can also hand paint tin ceilings.

"If someone is renovating their home and they want a hand painted tin ceiling from the 1800’s, I am the man to call," said Werts.

Werts said he came to Texas nine years ago and he met Bonnie Ellis Pase.

"She taught me everything

I know and I’m deeply grateful to her," said Werts.

Werts said Pase encouraged him to open his own business. He applied his new learned skills to develop his own style and techniques of tin art.

"I would keep in mind how my teacher would do things, making sure that the highest quality of craftsmanship was always maintained," said Werts.

"I still keep in touch with

my teacher who is truly the master of hand painted tin,"

said Werts.

"I really want to thank Amy Fox, owner of Harbor Gallery in Gent in Norfolk, VA and Brian at the Virginia Beach Gallery. These places are where I first put my art," said Werts.

Werts said whatever you can imagine can be done.

"Just come see us for all of your special needs," said Werts.

Werts said all his items are

hand painted and no two items are ever the same.

"The styles and technique

are so different that it makes it impossible to copy. Special orders are welcome and I can do offsite paints for special orders," said Werts.

Werts first came to First Monday in October 2005.

"I was talking to friend who told me that people are always looking for something different, merchandise that you can’t

find at Wal-Mat," said Werts.

Werts said that after renting space on The Mountain at First Monday for 10 months he just recently purchased his own store.

"If it weren’t for God, my mentor and all the kind people on The Mountain I wouldn’t be where I am today. The Mountain has the nicest people with many different talents that adds special flare to Canton Trade Days," said Werts.

As for free time, Werts said he doesn’t have much.

"I really don’t have much free time since my time is spent designing new styles and patterns for art work. This is a labor of love," said Werts.

Werts is located on Possum Trail on The Mountain, lots C14A and C14B.

"One last thing I would like to say is congratulations to Mom and Jack on their anniversary," said Werts.
