Vandals Win State Mixed Doubles Title

Natalie Hand and Josh Wilgus completed a state championship run in Mixed Doubles with a 6-1, 7-5 win over defending state champions, Colin Bumann and Lelsie Ingram of Abilene Wylie on Tuesday.

Hand and Wilgus began play at the World of Tennis Complex at Lakeway on Monday. In the first match the Van duo defeated Elias Hernandez and Erika Gilbert of La Feria in the first round.

In the semifinals, the team survived a tough match against Kylie Glass and Jordan Hamilton of Groesbeck, winning 7-6, (7-4), 6-4.
