Eagles Fall To Edgewood

The Canton Eagles fell to Edgewood, 66-38, before participating in the DQ Van Invitational.

Hosting Edgewood, the Eagles were held scoreless in the first quarter while the Bulldogs, ranked 14th in the state in 2A, took a 19-0 lead.

The Eagles came up with 12 points in the second, led by Stephen Malouf’s six points in the quarter. Malouf hit a 3-pointer and shot 3-of-4 from the line in the second.

Edgewood however scored 18 in the second to take a 37-12 lead into the locker room.

Canton had its’ big quarter in the fourth when the team sprang for 19 points, led by Chance Wallace with seven.

Malouf led the Eagles with 11 total, followed by Wallace’s seven, and David Haron with six. Trent Termin had four, and Tyler Yarbrough, Eric Walters and Roy Denbow all had three. Ethan Fields added one point.

At the Van tournament, the Eagles fell in the first round to Liberty-Eylau, 58-40, and then defeated Dallas Life 44-35. Canton finished the tournament action with a loss to Prosper, 60-30. Individual stats were not available at press time.
