Eaglettes Open District With Win Over Wills Point

The Eaglettes got off to a 1-0 start in the district race with a 61-37 win over the Wills Point Lady Tigers on Friday night.

Canton used an 18-8 advantage in the first, and a 21-9 edge in the third to earn the margin of victory.

Lexi Callan and Meagan Wilson both scored 18 points to lead the way for Canton, and Kelsey Nixon followed with 11. Other scoring for Canton came from Victoria Smith, Sydney Tarkington and Lindsey Grace with four points apiece, and Tania Ornelas with two.

Prior to the game in Wills Point, the Eaglettes defeated Cayuga 66-44. Canton led 14-10 after the first quarter, and increased the margin to 31-21 at the half.

Callan (27) and Wilson (21) combined to score 48, and Nixon added 10. Grace added six and Brittany Brewer had two.

The Eaglettes hosted Eustace on Tuesday, however game results were not available at press time. The girls will be in Mineola on Friday.
