Kendrick Captures Third "Overall Best Lifter"

Clayton Kendrick took first place in the 181-pound weight class, and received the Overall Best Lifter Award for the third consecutive meet at the March 8 Regional Powerlifting Meet held in Elysian Fields.
Kendrick had lifts of 515 lbs. in the Squat; 310 lbs in the Bench Press; and 525 lbs. in the Deadlift to win the meet and qualify for the State Meet to be held in Abilene.
Also qualifying for state was Austin Jennings, who was second in the 132-pound weight class. Jennings has lifts of 320 lbs. in the Squat; 230 lbs. in the Bench Press; and 375 lbs. in the Deadlift.
Jace Huddle earned a trip to the state meet as the second alterante after placing fourth in the 181-pound weight class. Huddle’s lifts were: Squat 450 lbs.; Bench Press 300 lbs.; Deadlift 500 lbs.
Other results for the Vandals were:
Joseph Gable, sixth place, 123 -pound weight class with lifts of Squat 330 lbs.; Bench Press 165 lbs.; Deadlift 300 lbs.
Sam Wineland ninth place, 181-pound weight class, with lifts of Squat 445 lbs.; Bench Press 255 lbs.; Deadlift 440 lbs.
"They’ve all had a great year," said powerlifting coach Joshua Potter. "All of these guys have experienced tremendous improvements in their strength."
The State Meet will be at the Taylor County Expo Center in Abilene on Saturday, March 29.
