Band Boosters Sale
C.B. Thompson Middle School and W.H. Ford High School Band Boosters will hold a benefit garage sale Feb. 23.
The sale is to begin at 8 a.m. at the middle school band hall and parking lot off Kuykendall Street in Quinlan.
All proceeds will support the band programs.
‘Have A Heart’ Drive
C.B. Thompson Middle School is sponsoring its first "Have a Heart Food Drive" until Feb. 14.
All donations will benefit the Lake Area Shared Ministries located at 1207 E. Quinlan Pkwy. in Quinlan. The drive is a combined effort by the middle school choir, Student Council, Art Club and library aides.
Amvets Valentine Dance
Peggy Stroud announced that Amvets will host a steak dinner Saturday at 6 p.m. for a donation of $25 per couple. Wayne Wilson will entertain. For information or reservations, call 903-447-4376.
Valentine Dinner, Dance
United Methodist Women will host a Valentine dinner and dance Saturday at 6:30 p.m. in the Family Life Center of the First United Methodist Church of Quinlan.
Treasurer Donna Siegmund said the center would be converted into a ballroom with a romantic theme. Cost is $10 per person and $5 for children under 12, open to the public. Tickets are now on sale at the Methodist Church and on the night of the event.
The W.H. Ford High School Jazz Band will play the first hour, followed by a light show and disc jockey Sneed the second hour. Emily Nelson will be taking pictures in the Photo Corner.
Library To Host Party
The Tawakoni Area Public Library will host a children’s Valentine party on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon.
Board President Virginia Johnson said all area children were invited to attend.
She said the winners of the "Love a Book" contest as well as the "Guess the Hearts" contests would be announced at the event.
Financial Aid Night
W.H. Ford High School will sponsor a college financial aid night in the library on Monday, Feb. 11, at 6:30 p.m.
Parents and-or students at the high school level who plan to go to college should will learn how to obtain financial aid for a college education.
Test Scores On Tuesday
Princeton Review Parent Night will be on Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 6:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Students will receive their Princeton Review test scores.
Counselor Jennifer Davis said parents and students would be provided information about college admissions and information on the upcoming intensive ACT preparation course offered at FHS that had statistically been proven to significantly raise student ACT scores.

Scouting For Food
Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts will join Scouts across the country Saturday morning in their annual Scouting for Food campaign.
The Scouts will tie bags on doors and return the following Saturday, Feb. 16, to collect any non-perishable food items donated. Bags may be placed on porch or steps. A spokesperson said all food collected would be delivered to the Lake Area Shared Ministries Food Pantry.
BBB Spirit Night held
The Boles Band Backers (BBB’ers) club had Spirit Night Tuesday night at Chick Filet in Greenville as a fundraiser to alter the band uniforms.
Chick Filet will give 20 percent of the proceeds to the band. There will be another one on Tuesday, Feb. 12.
The group will meet again Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 6:30 p.m. in the band hall.
VFW Valentine’s Dance
VFW and Ladies Auxiliary of West Tawakoni will host is annual Valentine’s dance on Saturday, Feb. 16, from 8 p.m. to midnight in the bingo hall.
The public is invited to dance to the music of Larry Penny with Theresa and Company. The cost is $4 per person or $7 per couple. Snacks will be served. For more information, call 903-447-4584.
Second Saturday Breakfast
VFW and Ladies Auxiliary of West Tawakoni will host Second Saturday Breakfast this week from 8 to 11 a.m. in the bingo hall.
The cost of a complete breakfast is $3.75. A la carte items are also available. The breakfast is open to the public. For more information, call 903-447-4584.

Gospel Night At Theater
Gospel Night will be held Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Cotton Pickin’ Theatre on US Highway 69 in Point.
Among the guests this week will be David Lemons and Joe Hanley along with regular performers.
