Standoff Ends In Arrest On Sunday

J.C. Jones- Correspondent

A 17-year-old is in the Hunt County jail after he was arrested early Sunday morning in a standoff shooting incident.

The Hunt County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a disturbance complaint at approximately 3 a.m. Sunday Feb. 2.

Hunt County Sheriff Chief Deputy Robert White said Ricky Allen Ord, age 17, of Quinlan was reported to have arrived at 1643 Private Road 3827 the residence of Sarah Runzel, Ord’s former girlfriend, and was accompanied by his new girlfriend and other friends.

White said, "We were told that Ord had arrived to pick up his 11-month-old female child and began shooting around the mother and child with a handgun."

Chief Deputy White said that everyone left at that point, and Ord and the new girlfriend went into the house.

A sheriff’s patrol car arrived at the residence as the shots were fired, and the Special Response Team was called.

White said deputies were not sure if the woman was in the residence of her own will or was a hostage and exercised maximum caution.

The deputies managed to make entry into the home and discovered that the new girlfriend was there of her own freewill and called for a search warrant.

White said that Ord was arrested at approximately 5 a.m. and was taken to the Hunt County Criminal Justice Center where he remained in lieu of a $25,000 bond.
