Voters have an active field of candidates from which to choose Tuesday at primary elections.

Today (Friday) is the final day to vote early. Early ballots may be cast at the Voter Administration building located at 2217 Washington, Greenville.

Polls will be open Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. across Texas. See list of polls.

Several county and precinct races have drawn interest for Tuesday’s election.

Voters in the Democratic and Republican Primaries will select nominees. Winners will face off in the November general election. See coverage from political forum.

Two Republicans and one Democrat are seeking election to Hunt County’s District Attorney, 196th Judicial District.

Scott A. Cornuaud and Noble Walker are running as Republicans. The winner of the that will face Democrat Carol Day Gustin in November. Incumbent F. Duncan Thomas did not seek another term in the position.

Three Republicans — Richard Hill, Randy Meeks and Robert J. White — and Democrat Dewey Watson are seeking the sheriff’s job. Incumbent Don Anderson did not file for another term.

Democrat Steve Shipp and Republican F. Duncan Thomas are seeking the County Court-at-Law No. 2 Judge position. They will be on the same ballot in November.

Shipp formerly served in the court-at-law position in Court No. 1. Thomas is the incumbent district attorney.

Hunt County Commissioner Precinct 3 incumbent Phillip A. Martin will be opposed in the general election in November by the winner of Tuesday’s primary. Martin is a Democrat and is unopposed for the party nomination.

Larry Middlebrooks and Ronnie Morgan are seeking the Republican nomination for the commissioner’s position in Precinct 3.

The Precinct 4 Constable position has two Democrat challengers to Republican incumbent Cullen J. Smith. Democrats Kent. E. Layton and Glenn Parris are seeking their party’s nomination for the job. The winner will oppose Smith in November.
