Collinsville Shortens Hornets' Postseason
In the process, the Pirates got some revenge for a loss to Boles in the same round last year. This time around, the Hornets found themselves in a big hole on the scoreboard from which they were unable to recover.
Already ahead 7-0, Collinsvile quickly tripled that lead on two huge mistakes. A botched punt that resulted in the Pirates taking over at the 1-yard line was quickly followed by a fumble recovered in the end zone by the Pirates.
Boles fell behind 34-0 early in the second quarter before finally showing life on offense. Lane Sutton scored a 7-yard touchdown run with 4:04 before halftime to get the Hornets on the scoreboard.
However, they were never able to get the big defensive stops they needed in the second half to climb back into it. Sutton had a 5-yard TD in the third quarter and Stephen Hatchel scored on a 4-yard run, following his 58-yard carry, in the final two minutes of the contest.
